Tesco Clubcard - what’s the fuss about

We went to Tesco this week for the big shop, keen to see what the fuss about Clubcard Prices was about. Relaunched last month, Tesco Clubcard Prices offers hundreds of deep price cuts exclusively for members of its Clubcard scheme. Featured in many categories, we spotted hefty price discounts of up to 50% on leading brands from Birds Eye to Quality Street.

Save £2.50 on my Pizza Express Sloppy Giuseppe? Thank you very much.

Simply scan your Clubcard or App at till or online to have the discount applied. It is quick and simple and fantastic news if you are one of the 19million active Tesco Clubcard members.
Across a typical trolley of shopping, a family could easily save £20+ off Tesco’s standard prices.

But that is the big trade off. The usual promotional price discounts you might expect on the gondola end and feature displays at Tesco have all now stopped. No Clubcard. No discount. I suspect infrequent shoppers will either sign up or go elsewhere.

Tesco are clearly intent on more shoppers signing up for Clubcard. By sharing your purchase data, you create an opportunity to target offers, enhance loyalty and further differentiate in a fiercely competitive grocery market.
